01 How we help

One secure door to the help you need.

Blackmail, outing threats and extortion often come with legal, emotional and financial danger all at once. Odhikar coordinates that support so you only have to tell your story once.

Pro bono legal aid

Volunteer lawyers advise on extortion, cyber harassment and police contact, and help you document evidence and understand your options. All of it is free.

Peer counseling

Trained queer and trans peer counselors listen without judgment and stay with you through the crisis and afterwards.

Emergency aid

Short-term safe shelter referrals, transport and emergency funds when staying where you are is not safe.

Encrypted intake

Messages are stored encrypted and go only to our team's private inbox. Use any name you want.

Sexual health

Free, confidential HIV testing and referrals with the Hijra community.

Digital safety

Lock down accounts, take down leaked content and cut off a blackmailer's access.

02 Privacy

Your identity is yours.

You decide what to share and who sees it. We never out anyone, to family, employers or anyone else.

  • 1Use any name you like. We'll never ask for ID.
  • 2Your case is shared only with the people you approve.
  • 3When it's over, your data is deleted unless you ask us to keep it.

03 The process

From first message to safety.

01

Reach out

Send an encrypted message on this site, or ask for our Telegram contact. Any name is fine.

02

Triage

A peer counselor responds, checks that you're safe right now and works out what kind of support you need.

03

Referral

We connect you to the right person: a lawyer, a counselor, emergency aid or a health partner. You approve every handoff.

04

Follow-through

We stay in touch until the threat is resolved, then delete your case data unless you ask us to keep it.

04 Being blackmailed right now?

Take a breath. Start here.

Blackmailers count on panic and isolation. These first steps protect you while you contact us.

Talk to someone now →

Do

  • Screenshot every message, profile, phone number and payment request, with dates visible.
  • Stop replying once you've saved the evidence. Don't argue or negotiate.
  • Make your social accounts private and turn on two-factor authentication.
  • Tell one person you trust, or tell us.

Don't

  • Don't pay. Paying almost always leads to more demands.
  • Don't delete the chat before you've saved the evidence.
  • Don't meet the blackmailer in person, alone or otherwise.
  • Don't blame yourself. The crime is theirs, not yours.
05 Community health

Free HIV testing, run with the Hijra community.

Crisis support also means everyday care. We have run two free, confidential HIV testing campaigns in local Hijra communities, organized alongside community leaders.
